The eight-story building features a distinctive curved façade of coloured triangular glass, revealing a timber-and-steel structure. It houses a 1,000-seat auditorium, offices, conference facilities, two restaurants, and a café. Renowned for hosting Nobel lectures and international conferences, it stands as a prestigious venue for globally significant events.
The lighting design is rooted in two primary factors: the building's fan-shaped layout and the multiple staircases that dominate the open entrance space, serve as both functional and architectural focal points. The layout allows for a clear and structured grid to ceiling-integrated general lighting and wall illumination. The integration of light into the handrails provides clear visual guidance while creating a dynamic sense of movement throughout the space.
An added experience in the entrance room is the handcrafted glass prisms by artist Ingegerd Råman, irregularly arranged in the sloping ceiling.
